I tried to convert the format by formating the pendrive but to no avail.is there any other way to convert the format of pendrive from FAT32 to NTFS?

There is a command line CONVERT command. See How to convert a FAT16 volume or a FAT32 volume to an NTFS file system in Windows XP. Why didn't formatting work?

I don't know how long it will take for an 8 GB drive. I suspect it depends on the number of files on the drive and the write speed of the drive. Post back if you timed it, I'm curious.
