How to get your boyfriend to be more affectionate
My boyfriend and me have been going out for about a month and a half, Im 1 year older, he kisses me and gives me plenty of hugs, but the only thing is that he won't hold my hand till someone tells him to or I hold his, and he's said once that he likes holding my hand. Hes just not very touchy you know like he has NEVER put his arm around me and stuff. He's always saying he wants to make out with me in the rain because once I said that I think it'd be cute if I kissed someone in the rain and I guess it's like his mission or something hahahah anyway I've talked to him about it and stuff but he's just not touchy and I can get my friend to talk him into anything.I just hate waking with him and seeing like my best friend and he boyfriend walking with his arm around her when my boyfriend acts like he doesn't even know me : / I wan't to break up with him because of this but I can't stand being away from him SOooo any ideas??

He hugs and kisses you, that seems pretty affectionate to me.
People are different and if you have already talked to him about it,what else can you do?
I think you need to ask yourself if this really is a dealbreaker.

Why are people telling him to hold your hand? If someone told me to hold my gf's hand, that would make me NOT want to do it,(just because I am stubborn like that), and it would alsso put a lot more pressure on holding the hands! I don't get this at all though, sounds all immature, no offense. Some people just don't like public affection.

Why are you so worried about a 6 week relationship? God help me if a friend of my girlfriend started telling me how to act. I'm my own man and I don't need or appreciate someone else telling me I have to be more affectionate especially when he appears to be affectionate.
Well you want a boyfriend that is emotionally supportive, it is not his job to be your emotional support. By that I mean he has his life to lead and you have yours, but it's not his job to drag you through life answering every stupid little emotional "does he love me or does he not" test you throw at him.
If you keep this nonsense up he's going to leave. Beacause after six weeks he's already being ordered around by your friends and he's being made to do something he's uncomfortable with. If you can't appreciate him for what he is then maybe you are the one with the problem and not him.

Agrees, you don't date someone to change them, you date them because you like them for who they are!

Like Amicon said, ask yourself if this is really a dealbreaker. If you like him, why would you consider breaking up with him over something like this?

Maybe he only feels comfortable hugging and holding hands right now. If you're his first girlfriend, he's probably a bit shy and doesn't know what to do.

Not a good sign your already trying to change this guy, and using friends to help you. I think its more you, than him, since you already know he is trying and your still not happy. Honestly maybe you should dump him and he can get someone who appreciates him for who he is.
Keep going down this road and this month and a half won't last a month and a half more, because he will get tired of the crap your pulling.

I avoided getting involved with him specifically for this reason. I told him up front that I'm very independent. I always have been, yet I have been in two separate serious relationships (2.5 yrs, 4 yrs).
He is a very emotionally needy person, and is now suggesting he go to...
