    What means the saying
    I am translating a SF-novel by Colin Greenland and find the phrase "a K's worth of gear."
    I do not understand the "K".
    Google delivers many pages with this saying, but I cannot find any translation into German.

    Tabea, I think he could have meant a hundred weight of gear, or gear weighing one hundred pounds. 'A K's worth of gear', 'a hundred weight of gear'.

    I haven't read any of his books. It might mean weight (Kilo) or cost (K = $1,000). Is he talking about "a K's worth of gear" meaning traveling weight, or does he mean the high price of the gear?

    Yes, I mean to say l000 weight of gear K = l000
