    Arghhh Winter
I totally put my car in the ditch tonight.

Thankfully, it was in the laneway of the house I was dogsitting at, and not on the road.

This laneway is about a quarter mile long, very windy, and relatively steep. It's on a hill so it is prone to snow drifts. Tonight was very snowy and windy so I knew I was going to have to deal with drifts on the way up.

I got maybe 300 feet into the laneway before I did it. The whole lane is HORRIBLY marked (not many steaks to mark where it is, especially when it winds), and with the drifts you couldn't really tell where it ended and the ditch began.

Weeeell I hit a pretty large drift and was basically snowplowing (snow coming up over my hood), then my tire slipped off the laneway and the side of my car fell into the ditch.

I got out and I think I may have been able to dig myself out, but the laneway only got worse on the way up. My puny little shovel wasn't working very well so I gave up and went up to the house (walking up a 1/4 mile laneway when the snow is up to your knees SUCKS) to call the neighbor, who came down with his tractor, blew the snow from the laneway then pulled my sorry out.

    Any winter driving stories?

Yup, I was driving to Cape Breton in the middle of a snow storm, when a snow plow drove past me, like passed me on 2 solid yellow lines, and threw a bunch of snow and rocks at my car, I of course nervously twitched and my car spun out of control landing me in a huge ditch on the side of the dang ocean with no houses for MILES. I sat there watching my car get buried by snow for 3.5 hours before someone actually stopped to see if I needed help. No cell service, no cash, no civilization.
    Total bummer.

Hope you and your car is okay!
