I'm on probation for evading arrest in a motor vehicle I have $3000+ that I have to pay but I don't have a job and its very difficult for me to get a job and cannot pay it. I really want to join the Navy but I have to finish probation first. If I don't pay the money by a certain date I could posibley go to state prison and I don't what that. Can I consult a laywer to see if the courts could change the money I owe to joining the Navy?

The only person who can drop or change your probation requirements would be the Judge who sentenced you. You should have thought about the Navy at the time of your sentencing. I really don't forsee the Judge changing your sentencing at this point so don't get your hopes up too high about this.

Sometimes joining the military is an old ploy to get out of going to jail. Only years ago during the Viet Nam War was this used of join the military or go to jail. In your case since the restitution was from a motor vehicle accident I highly doubt the Judge would even entertain this change in your sentencing.

Would suggest that you really try to get a job or borrow the money from your family and then happily join the Navy if you are still inclined to.
