    Science fair ideas HELP
 HELP I'm really stumped on science fair ideas! I have no idea of what I should do. I'm in grade 8 and I want something really interesting and maybe a model to impress the judges. I'm interested in ice cream, chocolate, yogurts, soy milk, milk, dance. However, we're not allowed to do any human or animal experimentation. Please help. I want something really interesting thanks.

Thank you for posting your question to the Ask Me Help Desk.

    Hmmm...

How about some research on developmental differences between infants who grew up on regular baby formula, those who grew up on soy based formula, and those who grew up on breast milk.

making icecream with liquid nitrogen is always fun, but maybe a little too dangerous ^_^

I know you posted in chemistry, and this isn't really chemistry but:

You can measure the speed of light with chocolate and a microwave.
    See more here: http://superpositioned.com/articles/...ght-with-chips

It basically uses the fact that a microwave uses a certain frequency of light, and creates a standing wave in the cavity, which melts the chocolate in a specific place. You can measure the distance between two melted lines and that will give you a figure that you can obtain the wavelength from (at microwave this is likely to be a few cm). Then you can use v=fl to get the speed of light which should be 300,000,000 m/s.

You can get fairly accurate results for such a simple method, as long as you focus on how it works, that should be a good demonstration.
