Hi, I own a small plumbing service and have a problem I've never encountered before. I installed a new top vented gas water heater for a customer. Turned the main back on, bled air out of the lines, etc. Problem is there is no hot water pressure throughout the house. Cold water pressure is fine....

PROBLEM:ATTEMPTED FIX Tried bridging hot and cold with a hose (on all taps) I've even let it run for a few minutes so that water is spilling out of the overflow. I've tried turning off the cold water supply, then turning on all the hot taps to try and empty the tank, but the same thing...

The hot water pressure slows, in the whole home, all taps. I'll hear a knock (one) somewhere in the plumbing and the hot water pressure will be gone, then sometime later I'll hear another knock (one) and the pressure will be back.
