    want a crown not extraction
went to a my dentist for a check up, 6 months previous no problems, however that dentist had left the practice and I now have a new guy. Looked at my teeth and asked if I had and problems with them, my reply was no. He then decided to give me x-rays to see how my old filling were shaping up, he then told me I needed 3 fillings and recommended I get wisdom teeth removed as the were all very close together, I said no to the removal as I am 35 and have had no problems with them at all. Went fot my first 2 fillings (at the same time) to which I was left with constant pain and high sensitivity in them, I have since been back to get the fillings redone to which he has put in a tempory filling and is now talking about exraction of the tooth if it does not settle, I asked could I get a crown instead and he told me that as it is at the rear of my mouth (1 & 2 moler teeth) it would be to hard to do!! Is the right, or should I seek another opinion on it?

Definitely get a second opinion! Before a dentist removes a tooth due to sensitivity a root canal is normally recommended.

A crown alone will not solve the sensitivity problem hence the root canal.

Any dentist who tells you doing a crown on a molar would be hard to do is DEFINITELY one you don't want to see again!

Get another opinion. I have just the same issue. My long time dentist wants to remove the wisdom teeth. One is gone.

The peridontist says I need all the teeth I can get. 4 bicuspids had to be removed for braces.

A classmate from grade school was able to do crowns and fillings that my long-term dentist could not.
