I have a 46-year old male friend who told me about 6 months ago that he was talking casually to a Phillipino girl in Manilla on the internet. Until yesterday he hadn't mentioned it again. But now he has told me he is talking to her around 4 hours a day through cam chats. She is as he describes a "very hot 28 year old girl who works in a restuarant in Manilla." They have talked about everything under the sun and he has even let his teenage daughter talk to the Phillipino girl. She has NEVER ASKED FOR MONEY from him but has offered to help him pay for a trip to the Philippines so they can meet. She also talks to a lot of other guys, even while she is talking to my friend. (and he knows this) Now he is all in a frenzy to go there and meet her. I am suspicious that even though she hasn't asked for money that she is after something else like a free ride to the U.S. Then once she is here bye, bye to my friend. I wish it could be a good situation for him, but you know what they say "if it sounds to good to be true, then it is." The most suspicious parts of this are the facts that she wants to help pay for his visit to her and they miraculously have numerous similar likes (music, video games, etc.) Also, he is still married, though separated for about 3 years. The Phillipino girl is very curious about that, yet does not press him much about getting a divorce (according to him). What do you think? Has anyone ever heard of a similar situation?

There are of course a lot of real girls who will marry almost anyone in the US, to get out of their nation, things are that bad in some places.

I have know many that seem to last, others, after they get citizenship, they are gone, but no way to know till 5 or more years after they are married to see if they stay.

Yes! My fiance's father is a senior citizen and married a Thai woman who is only 30 years old. They chatted online for a year or so, then they met, were married, and returned to the US. They are going back to Thailand next week.
If you have some concerns, I suggest confronting your friend about it. The internet is a risky place to put your emotions. Plus, he's married. Letting him know these things, could prevent him from getting hurt. Plus, if he does end up hurt, you wouldn't feel so guilty for not speaking up.
