What should I do, if there is an option other than running away?
I am a 15 year old girl who is fed up. I was raised in the ghetto, around rough people. Drug dealers, and drinkers. I don't know what to do because my mom is making me mad. She do the worst of things and I don't like it. I am a very mature person for my age, but just because I'm mature don't mean running away isn't an option.

I often wonder why people, who are able, don't walk away from terrible circumstances and take a more active roll in the direction of their lives. Instead they stay and act like victims. I think most people are where they want to be.
    That goes for adults...

As for you, who are just 15, still a minor, your options aren't quite the same as they would be when you are 18. Though staying in the ghetto, with all the crime and drugs and irresponsible adults and mother, can do untold horrors and ravage you if you are forced to stay another 3 years. That is a long time to live in such circumstances and not be affected by what is going on around you. The longer you are in that environment the more likely you are to 'join them', so to speak.

Realistically, do you have a safer place to go? Is there a chance you could finish high school living on your own, or would you be so busy struggling just to provide yourself with your next meal that you would not have time for school?
Have you thought about going into the foster care system? I know, that doesn't sound very good, and it is possible that you could be placed with a family that doesn't care about anything but the money, but since you are 15 and say you are very mature and you think you are ready to run away, a foster family could provide you with a roof over your head and meals and clothes, at least. You would have your basic necessities, at least, so that you could finish school. You would probably even qualify for a scholarship for collage if you leave home with the support of the state, rather than running away.

A lot of runaways end up being taken advantage of by adults, or worse, they end up dead. Please think over all your options. If you are going to leave home and make a better life for yourself, you have to have a realistic plan. A good life doesn't just happen, you have to work at taking the right steps that take you towards your goal.
