Spouse of a G4-visa holder. How do I fill my taxes?
My wife works for an international organization with a G4 visa. Since all her income comes from that work, I think she does not have to pay taxes at all. I changed from an f1 visa to a G4 visa on May, 2009. I receive income from a university (Grad school full scholarship) and for some short term contracts. My question are:

    1. What forms do I need to fill? As an F1 visa holder I used to fill 1040NR-EZ
    2. Do I fill as a married nonresident allien? Or as a single nonresident allien?

    Thanks!

Both of you should file separate nonresident tax returns with Form 8843. On G4, your income is exempt from federal income taxes.

The G-4 visa is non-immigrant visa which allows foreign officers or employees of international organizations of any rank to enter into the U.S. to engage in business activities and not for personal business and pleasure. You don't have to pay income tax while on G status as you work for international organizations.

Thank you. I do have receive income from a US institution (university) so I suppose I do need to pay income tax on that as I used to pay when I was under a F1 visa. But I'm not sure what form to fill or where to go to ask for expert advice on this matter. Any idea?

    Thanks a lot!
