How long does it take for water pressure to return to your house?
My wife and I have ciy water. Today, we changed the water filter for the house which is located in the basement, our house is a split level. First we turned off the water valve coming into the house, then we turned on a few faucets to relief water pressure, opened up the filter cover and let it leak into a bucket for a while. Then changed the filter, put the cap back on, and turned the water back on. However it's been almost two hours and we don't have full water pressure over the entire house. Our first level seems fine, but our second level it weak, our and washing machine in the basement almost doesn't fill with any water. How long does it take for water to regain full pressure?

Pressure should come right back, sure you opened the main valve all the way? Are you sure you shut the few drain faucets? Only other thing would be something entered the line from the old filter. Maybe wouldn't hurt to run all faucets and let any air out. Good luck

There is usaully an air bleed valve on the filter. A small button that you push to rid the system of air.

Critical systems have a bypass installed. In fact some water filters do that. You turn the top of them and the water is diverted around the filter. You push the button to remove the air with a bucket underneath. Remove the bottom with a special wrench. Re-install and push the button again.

What's I'd urge you to do is turn off the water. Open the lowest fixture in the house and crack the furthest fixture in the house and let the water drain out.

Now turn off the lowest fixture. Open the furthest fixture on the 2nd floor (preferably a bath tub or shower). It does not have to be open much, There just needs to be a place for the air to go.

Turn the water on SLOWLY. Go to the furthest fixture and open it all the way until the air bleeds out and then close it.

Thanks both of you for your help. My wife and I just put the old filter back on and we got immediate pressure all over the house. When the new filter was in the holder we would hear a little air in there. The ends of the new and older filter were a little different and although they looked the same size maybe they were not.

Is this the filter from Home Depot that you talked about on another post?
