How Do I convert a Natural Gas stove to LP?
Hi, we bought a used Heatilator GC 1990 gas heater stove (not a range). It is set up for natural gas but we want to use it where only LP is available. How can we convert it? Is this expensive to do? Also, can we add a wall thermostat to control it?
Since it is no long made, the only info I have been able to find about it is this parts manual: http://www.heatilator.com/downloads/serviceParts/gc1990.pdf
    THANKS for your help.

If you read the manual that you posted it says that the LP gas valve part for this unit is no longer available so now you have that answer.

You might be able to find someone local to look the unit over and possibly do the conversion but they will need the talent and skill to modify the unit without having the exact factory gas valve and you will have to order all the other LP parts for the conversion so I would call them to check on availability. LP gas can be explosive if not converted correctly and that is why only a real professional should attempt this conversion.

Also question the person doing the conversion about the thermostat.

Thanks for your assistance. I will take it to a local stove shop and see if they can convert it for me. I got it on Craigslist and so far have only $35 invested in it. Worst case scenario I can resell it to someone who can use it as is.
