    Can your spouse as dependent of h1b
    I have spouse that is totally dependent with me. She is not allowed to work legally, so she has no income. I filed jointly my income tax return 2008, can I still claim her as an exception for dependent?

    On joint return you get double standard deduction ($11400 for 2009) and two exemptions.

Hi, I'm filing as "married filing jointly". My wife doesn't have a job and did not earn anything for 2006. Aside from checking the exception for my wife (Form 1040 line 6b) , can I add her in the list of dependents (line 6c) ? Thank you very much.
