Is my Dachshund dappled or double dappled?
Hello you all. I have a 5 month old miniature dachshund and was wondering if he was "dappled" or "double dappled". Ive done some research but have gotten many different answers. He is black with silver spots and brown and tan on his feet and around his mouth area. He also has 2 different color eyes.

Do you have any photos you could post?

I personally have never heard of double dappled but here in Australia we just refer to them as Merle.

Photos would definitely help but I think that Jeremy has to be a member for 48 hours before that option is available.

    Thanks Jeremy.
Sit tight and check back here later.
To me that is a Merle but like I said I am unsure of the terminology in the USA but I know there are others on here who should be able to help you.

I think it is dapple, but like Shaz I am more familiar with Merle terminology.
I have never heard of double dapple. Except for the Leopard hound. But then it was called moxed merle... So I guess I am not much help. Sorry !

I don't know if you have been to the Dachshund Club of America website, but they have a fairly good explanation of coat colors and patterns in their FAQs: FAQ Colors.Pics.

From the pitures that you have shown, I would go for Dapple.
