Herniated belly button
My mother in law has a chihuahua male and female, I begged her to have them neutered, even went to the local animal control to retreve a voucher for spay and neuter, it was all in vain, they are to lazy to do it even when I said I would take them down to have it done and take care of them after surgery, so low and behold the female is pregnant, they got hung up 5 times ( I kid you not) with in a 2 hour time, and periodically through out the night, so my delima is the female has a huge herniated belly button, again something my husband and I offered to pay to fix, and I am wondering how this will effect her will she and to pups be OK I am very concerned will it kill her?

It depends on the hernia.
I it is a relatively flat hernia there may be little risk, if it is a bulging, large hernia I would highly recommend a spay/abort.
However, small breeds of dog like the Chihuahua are at a higher risk of needing a c-section when the time comes to whelp anyway.
If your mother in law is not willing to get basic vet care is she going to be willing to shell out $3,000 on a c-section?

Yikes, it's really ouch and go, some dogs (and people) have herneas the whole time through pregnancy. But it does not seem like your MIL is avery resposible pet owner. Well you could always contact the SPCA and tell them that she is denying her dog proper vet care.

I told her it will only get pricer as it goes! Coco's (thats the female) hernia is very large, I ijust can't understand ignoring it! I just pray that she is OK, my hubby is talking about just taking her and us paying for her care but you better believe if we do she is NEVER going to be returned!

Congratulations on the "new" dog :)
Sounds like she will be much better off with you.
What are you going to do about the hernia/pregnancy?
Or are you waiting to hear whether the vet thinks it will be safe for her?

Well the vet said they will not do the hernia surgery that while she is pregnant, they can't really say how far along she is, so we have to go for a ulrasound to see how involved the hernia is and if it is safe to go on with the pregnancy
