I've found an old pipe in my wall?
There has been a noise eminating from one of our walls recently.

It was originally an external wall although there has been an extension built (before we moved in) over 15 years ago so it is now internal.

I have knocked out the plaster and discovered a blanked off lead pipe. The noise sounds like water but there is no leak anywhere. The noise is constant and continues even if I turn the water off. The pipe is approx 22mm but narrows to be blanked to 10mm. I'm at a complete loss, any suggestions?

    Thanks for replying.

I'm not too good with computers so I'm not sure if I've added the attachment correctly but I think I have, let me know if you can see it.

    Thanks,

It appears this pipe used to be active some time ago. It looks ugly but there is nothing wrong with it. Somebody capped it off once it wasn't needed. It should not make noise. Noise in pipe travels. It is possible the source of noise is someplace else. Investigate little more. Listen in bathroom close by...

I am installing a new lavatory in the master bathroom. I think my plumber set the drain pipe too high up on the wall. I slide the J bend all the way up onto the tailpiece but I still have a 3 inch gap between the J bend and the wall tube. What is the best solution for this problem?

Need to value oil canvas found in wall [ 8 Answers ]

A friend has found an oil painting rolled up inside a wall. He described it as about 24X16. It used to be framed. The signature reads A. Phalipp or Pholipp (or perhaps Philipp but probably not). It is a picture of a young boy around the turn of the century maybe earlier. He is a redhead with blue...

Removing pipe through wall [ 1 Answers ]

Just connected to sewage. The pipe to the old septic system was capped but left in the basement wall. The plumber's recommendation was to leave the pipe rather than take the chance of water leaks where the pipe would be removed. It would seem to me that a properly performed patch in the cinder...
