 I am replacing galvanized piping with PEX piping. I will only be replacing the piping in the basement and leaving the galvanized piping risers to the floors above. I will be using brass PEX fittings. Do I need a special fitting such as a dielectric union/coupling to connect from the brass PEX... 
Pvc to galvanized

 Can't seem to get a tight seal at the connection of the pvc fitting to metal. I sanded th piece of gal to try to eliminate some of the corrosion because I could not get to oring on the pipe. Should I use a sealer as well there were no directions with the pvc piece I bought. Thanks

 I'm installing a new toilet in a basement and the plumbing was roughed in back in the early 40's. The problem I having is trying to find the right flange that will work with 3" galvanized pipe. From what I can see I don't believe it's cast iron, but it wouldn't suprise me if it is. I bought a 3"...
