Question about washing machine fill cycle
I have a question about how the washing machine works. When the washer is filling with water and someone in the house turns on a faucet, I see a big decrease in the flow of water into the washer. I know the cycles are on a timer, so does that mean that the water in the washer will be less when it moves to the next cycle, or is there a way that the machine regulates the volume of water within that cycle so that it is always the same before it cycles to the wash cycle? I have read a little about the water level control switch, but if the washer takes too long to fill, say if someone is watering the lawn while it is filling, will it cycle to the wash before it is full, or will it wait until it is full and the switch is activated before it starts the wash cycle? My machine is a Tappan Heavy Duty model #46-2351.

I do know that the wash agitator will not start until it is at the desired level of water.

Whether the timer is actually counting down or not during the fill, to be honest Im really not to sure. I guess if you just wanted to test, you can always set the washer to start, pull on the knob, then turn the supply down to a small trickle, or off comlpletley, then come back in about 15 minutes and see if the timer moved.

My Kenmore washer will go through the wash cylce but when it reaches the spin cycle the water will drain out but will not spin out. I did replace the motor isolation cupling, but that did not take care of the problem. I'm thinking that the control magnet could be the culprit. Any thoughts?? LAJ

When starting the washing cycle, the water enters but it keeps getting pumped out and I can hear what sounds like the pump. The stand pipe is above the machine so I don't think that's the problem. Thanks
