Water heater will not stay lit
I replace the thermo coupler and fired the water heater up. The pilot went out some hours later. Since I replace the thermo coupler what other options can I look at?

    Hi Dannamara...

How old is your water heater and can you tell me the name brand on it? It is possible that you have a newer version of water heater where the air/filtration can become clogged and will need to be cleaned...

    Let us know more... OK?

This is a GE about 18 months old. I found out this weekend the unit stays lit for a full cycle then there was a dull click soun on the gas valve/thermostat and the pilot would not stay lit. I did check the intake vent and they appear clean.

I'm thinking the gas valve needs to be replaced. Am I going down the right road?

Go outside and look for a tee with a capped nipple pointing down.
If you have one this will be a "drip loop" installed to collect condensate before it snuffs out your pilot lite.
If it's full expect your pilot lite to go out in condensate gets to it. Unscrew the cap and drain the nipple.
If you don't have a drip loop installed I'd consider installing one. Good luck, tom
