    Macular oedema
I have been diagnosed with Diabetic MACULAR OEDEMA.

This could be the side effect of PIAGLITAZONE that I have been prescribed for the treatment of DIABETES.

I do know that laser treatment is offered to treat MACULAR OEDEMA.

I also know that laser treatment has severe risks and can have disastrous consequences.

Is there any other treatment available for this diabetic condition?

    Please advise

    Thanks and regards

The correct terminology is macular edema (edema meaning swelling) You are entirely minsinfored if you believe that laser treatment has disastrous consequences; entirely not the case. If you want to retain most of your visition, and laser treatment for this condition may have to be done twice, you will have to have this. There is no other alternative for macular edema as a direct result of diabetes.
