First of all if you need to ask that question you are doubting your salvation. I don't mean your religion. There is a difference in being religious and being saved. I'm not an expert on anything but I do believe God will never let us go through this life thinking we're saved if we aren't. He will speak to our hearts and we will hear him in our heart.

I thought I was saved when I was thirteen and I sang in a gospel group for years. It wasn't until I had gone through a divorce and was raising my oldest daughter by myself. We went to church every Sunday and Wednesday whenever the doors were open we were there. My Dad and I sang in church and I had never doubted I was saved until one night our pastors' sermon was on the happiness of knowing you are saved.

He spoke of people who had been in church for years who thought they were saved but later God showed them they were lost. He also preached on Hell and it was a very moving sermon.

I went to bed not even thinking about Church or the sermon and about three or for in the morning I woke up and in my heart I felt an uneasiness that grew worse over the days that followed.

I knew I was not saved and I prayed and prayed for a long time. My daddy knelt there in the living room with me
And later that week I was saved in the old house where we lived.

I'm not perfect, far from it, I have a quick temper and I'm very outspoken which is bad when you hurt other people. A lot of people will laugh at this and may not believe in God, but I know he is there in heaven and there is a hell. Talk to a really good minister and read your Bible and pray. God will hear you and remember, God is always there and he listens.

I think it is the wrong question. Do not ask whether you are saved, but how you can be a more Christlike person. If you truly wish/try to try and emulate Christ (love your neighbor), love God and are sorry for when you fail to do either of those things then you are a follower of Jesus and the Good

If you are not saved by Christs blood, you may be the best person in the world ,you may be kind and all the things you have mentioned and you may love God but you have to ask him to dwell in your heart and accept by repenting and living for him.We all fail every day and we daily ask his forgiveness and he forgives. God Bless you.

I think I understand what you are trying to say, but not saying it very well. Works alone cannot/will not make you saved. You have to confess your sins and ask God into your heart to be saved. Then you will choose to do what is right because you do not want to do anything that would make your father angry or sad.

Right on! There is only ONE way to the throne room of God and works isn't it.

No one is perfect, let us look at the "best" example of Christians from the bible.

Thomas ( and the other disciples) all doubted Jesus

All of the 11 were in hiding after Jesus death in fear of the Romans

Peter was loud mouth and often spoke without thinking

When they went to get Jesus in the Garden one of them pulled a sword ( or long knife) to fight back.

Two of them ( brothers) and their mom were trying to get Jesus to give them a better place in the world to come.

Look at the early churches, read what Paul had to write to them for the things they were doing.

Heck I think I live a almost perfect life compared to 1/2 of people we know from the New Testement.

But the really great thing, it has nothing to do with being perfect, we are not, we are just forgiven.

Salvation is the easiest thing in the world, it is so easy, the devil though many preachers at times, helps us to doubt our salvation.

If you have asked for forgiveness and asked for salvation, you are saved. No trick ponies, no favors to buy,

I can not tell anyone that they are save, only Jesus can do that.
    He IS the final judge.
So do good, do your best not to sin; forgive others in the same manner you want to be forgiven, and have and practice faith.

I agree with you about Jesus is the only one who can tell you if your saved or not. That's why he speaks to our hearts. We all sin everday whether we're saved or not. All the things you mentioned are good things to do but; it isn't good works which make you a true born again ,washed in the blood Christian. It's repenting in your heart and crying out to him and asking his forgiveness. He gives us mercy, thank you God. If he gave me justice boy would I be in trouble.

    Kitkat22,
So you think that not doing good things is important to Jesus who did many good things.
I thought we were to emulate Him.
    Am I wrong?

I'm saying no matter how good your deeds are or what kind of wonderful person you are he sees the thing we do good or bad It is very important to him for people to treat each with love and kindness. Jesus knows our hearts our faults and our failures and my list is long because I'm not perfect and sometimes I know I hurt people by words or actions. But we are saved and we have a God who gave his son for us , who forgives.

Jesus wants us to do good things sinner or christian. Good works will not get us into heaven, we have to go by the way of the cross and repentance and accept him as our Saviour. He said , "The greatest commandment I leave you is to love one another as I have loved you."

For sinners and christians he loves us but hates our sins. Thank you for your question and I hope I said what I needed to say without sounding like a saint because I'm not. God Bless you

    Kitkat22,
I agree that good works alone can not get you into heaven.
But God Almighty, Father, Son and Holy Spirit do expect we Christians to be good people and follow God's will which does include doing good things.
One of the most important is that we serve others just as God serves us.

John 5:24 says," truly, truly I tell you, anyone who hears my words, and believes on him who sent me,has everlasting life, and will never come into condemnation, but has passed from death into life."

Is that saved enough for you? I hope you know him.

    belovedgift,
Yes that is it as long as we do what else the bible says we must do.
As an example we must forgive others to be forgiven.
There's more, just read the New Testament for all of it.

God Is Love! Do you know when Jesus was on the cross hanging there in agony, he could have called ten thousand angels to set him free. He didn't! There were two more people there on Calvary that day. They were thieves one on the right and one on the left

The one on the left mocked Jesus and asked if you are the son of God save us and save yourself too. But the one on the right believed in Jesus and cried, Jesus, remember me when thou cometh into thy kingdom. Jesus answered and said; This day ye shall be with me in paradise!

That's how great his love is. God Bless you:)

    Kitkat22 ,
Yes and Jesus Christ's great love shows well when He prayed for those who did that to Him...
"Forgive them for they know not what they are doing."
