Need to know what type of heating system you have. Is it hot water, forced air, conventional or heat pump, do you have ac, possibly electric furnace. Let us know, then let us know where the wires hook to on the furnace and we will do our best to help. Please also tell us where the wires were hooked on the old stat.

I have a forced hot air gas furnace with electric AC and one extra zone for my basement (not a second furnace). I have 6 wires coming out (o,w,g,r,bl,y). The old Honeywell Chromotherm III thermostat has matching contacts (c is left blank and R and Rc are jumped together). I purchased a Honeywell TH8110U1003 that has only 5 contacts (plus 2 outdoor sensor contacts). Did I get the wrong thermostat? Do I need the U1008?
