    Heatpump won't turn on
My husband recently replaced our thermostat. It was working fine for two days, then all of the sudden this afternoon I can't get the heat, air, or just the fan to turn on. Right now we have a Hunter 44860 thermostat. Before, we had a GE weathertron. I'm not certain of the model number. It says "Bay28x139 or Bay28s14, model 3AAT8B1A1 or 3AAT80B2A1"

When I try to turn the heat on, it says "heat running" on the thermostat like it normally has been doing when it was working properly. I am completely ignorant on the subject so I have no idea what is causing the problem.

My husband is gone for two months for training so I'm on my own right now.

The unit outside says "GE heatpump" and does not seem to be running at all. My husband told me to flip switches off and back on in the house at the breaker box for ac and heat to see if it helps, but it doesn't.

My friend said one time she had to reset her unit outside with some sort of reset button (we live in the same neighborhood/similar housing) but I didn't find one on mine.

Any suggestions as to what I can try and do to resolve this?

Make sure you reset the circuit breakers. That means to make sure you turn them all the way off then back on. Next make sure you also reset the circuit breaker or test the fuses for the outside disconnect which is usually next to the unit outside mounted to the wall of the home.

It is a good possibility that one of the wires on the thermostat came off or shorted since it was disturbed just two days ago and that is something you might check. Also there might be a small fuse located in the indoor unit that you will need to find and test for continuity (that it is good).

You did not post the EXACT model number for your inside unit or outside unit and you should do that if none of the above gets the unit running.

I am not on here all the time but someone else will be along to help.

There is not much we can do since we are not there and without heat things could get a bit cold so I suggest you find a phone number for a local HVAC company just in case you cannot get it to work.

My trane heatpump won't turn off at the thermostat. The thermostat can be in the off position yet the unit will still operate. It can go from heat to cool on the cool setting. It appears as if the thermometer is working but the unit runs constantly only to turn off with the circuit breaker.:(...
