My heat pump will not come on.
My heat pump will not come on. Checked the breakers they are working. The compressor does not come on when thermostat is turned up. System worked last week.
Is there a way to by pass the thermostat to check the problem?

Did you check the fuses or circuit breaker in the outside disconnect located near the outside unit?

Checked outside disconnect on compressor it seems inserted proper. Checked disconnect on air handler that has the heat strips and hot side seems plastic melted and metal connect fused together.
Seems it should have tripped the breaker, should I turn off breaker and replace entire disconnect?

Post pictures if you can but I cannot see the problem from here. Usually when I have had this problem I replace the entire disconnect/or assembly if it has been overheated especially if the buss bars are blue or off color from overheating.

Am going to replace the entire disconnect box. Do not understand why main breakers in panel box did not trip. Hope the heat strips were not damaged.

Strips should be OK but a visual inspection for sag and broken elements is in order.
