    Saddle valve broke off
I have a saddle valve feeding water to my whole house humidifier. It is about 10 years old and the tip of the piercer corroded and broke off in the copper pipe. The valve is now stuck in the off position. I can back the handle all the way out and noticed that it is broke. It does not leak. I'm afraid that if I try to remove it, I won't be able to fix it and will be calling a plumber. But I don't want to "over tap" the supply pipe, if that's possible.

Should I attempt to remove the stuck valve or just install a new one right next to it?

    Thanks in advance.

I would shut off the supply, remove the old saddle clamp, pull the pin out of the hole and install a new clamp. Good luck, Tom

SB, just out of curiosity, if he could not get the new one to seal in the old hole properly, would he be able to solder the old hole and just start over in a new spot?
