I have a washer that is draining back up the outside drain pipe into my washroom.
When the machine begins to drain, you can hear it in the drain pipe beginning to fill and within about 3-5 seconds the water is coming back up the drain pipe into my washroom. I have snaked the drain, it does not seem to be stopped up anywhere. The house was built in '73-'74. I do not know what size drain pipes are in the ground, but the drain does not go into the septic tank. It just ends out at the edge of the yard. There does not seem to be a spot in the yard that I can find that would tell me there is a busted pipe. Does anyone have any ideas?? I can't afford to hire a plumber right now and would appreciate any one's feedback on ways to try to alleviate this problem on my own.

Rent a sewer machine and snake the washer roof vent. Put out enough cable and 20 feet more. That should take care of the inside.

Check for a cleanout on that drain line. If not then follow it out in the yard. I think you might have a grease trap out there. Good luck and let me know what you find. Tom
