    It depends on which "style" (for lack of a better word) your book wants, and also what level you're at and what types of accounts are to be included... and on how much they want it divided up into different sections. The balance sheet is your accounting equation, but with details. It can be left and right like the accounting equation looks, or it can be with assets at the top, and liabilities and equity at the bottom. You can lump all assets together (a basic beginning format) or divide them up into different sub-categories.

    You need to use the examples from your book to see how they want them done at the level you are at. That is always your best resource for format, especially if the instructor is picky.

    But here are some examples. Note these may contain a lot of stuff you don't have, including sub-divisions you haven't learned:
