    Subtract 2 from both sides.
    8n - 10n < 18

    Combine 8n and -10n
    -2n
    -2n < 18

    Divide both sides by -2

    N < -9

Except remember that when dividing (or multiplying) both sides by a negative number, you reverse the sense of the inequality.

You can see, e.g. that n = -10 satisfies the proposed conclusion (n < -9) but doesn't satisfy the original inequality.
