What causes gasoline to be in the crankcase on my riding mower?
I have a Troy Bilt (Bronco)42" inch riding lawn mower that the last time I used it everything was fine. Been sitting the winter months and now has gasoline in the crankcase. What causes this and how to repair it?
Thanks in advance for any help.

It can be caused by the fuel left on, and the float or float valve sticking open allowing fuel to flow down into crankcase, I would clean the carb, replace the oil a couple of times.
Need to get the fuel out.

Thanks for the information, I drained the gas tank and disconnected gas line and removed carb.
I also drained the oil and put new oil in it. Will wait until the weekend when my son returns home since he is much more mechanically inclined than I. Will post back after he looks and cleans carb. It did not have a fuel shut-off in the fuel line but I plan on installing one before it is placed back in service.
