Uh, okay, I've never heard it put that way.

How long have you been trying? Were you ever on any birth control? If so, what kind and for how long? How old are you?

I'm sorry to answer questions with questions, but I need to get a history to help you better.

Okay, six months is not a long time really. It takes the average healthy couple a year or more of actively trying before conceiving.

I suggest you and your husband make a doctor's appointment for perinatal (pre-pregnancy) exam. Make sure you both are healthy, that there are no problems with your reproductive organs, and that there are no problems with his sperm. Do this about a year after trying to conceive.

Now, you should be taking prenatal vitamins now, if you aren't already. It will lower the risk of neural tube defects should you become pregnant. These defects typically occur before the woman ever knows she is pregnant and they are irreversible.

Prenatal vitamins are just that... prenatal vitamins. They are vitamins that you take while you are pregnant, but are very good for you even if you aren't.

I can't explain why your periods are different. I would have to do a physical exam and a complete medical history. This is why I recommend you see your doctor.
