    How well do goats hear?
    My son would like to know if goats have good hearing.

    Goats make excellent "guard dogs". They hear quite well and are protective of their human "friends" if they develop a relationship. My aunt use to live alone on 15 acres and kept them as guards and pets, and they would alert her if anyone was around.

    Prey/herd animals have great hearing and vision. It helps them be aware of potential or approaching danger. My goat was really protective of me too.
