    wiring gas fireplace
A little help is greatly appreciated. I am installing a Lennox Merit Plus fireplace. To the best of my ability to interpret the instructions here is what I have. The gas valve has two low voltage wires coming off it. I am installing a remote control for temperatures. I am also installing a blower kit.

I figure I am supposed to install 120v to the plug in the back right corner of the unit. The blower will plug into the variable speed control and the variable speed control will plug into the 120V plug. I figure the two low voltage wires from the millivolt gas valve can be inserted into the Skytech remote. The remote has two wires coming out of it but I am wondering if I can just remove those and insert the ones attached to the gas valve? The remote required 4 AA batteries. Will this affect the millivolt gas valve.

I was also thinking about installing a on/off switch in between the remote and gas valve.

There it is! Please comment as necessary.

    Thank you in advance.

After looking at the instructions, seems not too clear.

I suggest you contact Lennox and ask them:

Hello, I just bought a Montigo L38DF gas fireplace with the optional fan kit. The wiring diagram is very unclear as to how to install this unit. Here's my interpretation: The diagram shows 120v coming into a 120v/24v transformer (and also into an outlet box where the fan kit plugs in to). The...

Why did you make me work so hard? This should explain things: http://www.transtaracsupply.com/pdf/sv95control.pdf It's the gas valve. See page 5. Note the fans have to be controlled by a t-stat too. I did not look closely on how the "to fan timer" works on the valve.

Does gas emit in the house when pilot light of gas fireplace goes out? [ 2 Answers ]

I have a gas fireplace and on a windy day the pilot light actually went out. My dad said that even though the pilot light isn't on it's emitting gas into the house- which is a health hazard, but I thought that as long as the switch that turns on the light is off there is no risk. Can anyone tell me...

No gas supply, or faulty valve in gas fireplace? [ 4 Answers ]

We use a regency Gr55-3 ~20,000btu gas fireplace for heating our bedroom. Its about 10 years old and has given us no trouble before. The gas supply line is a small (3/8"?) flexible copper tube that runs about 40' from a prv. I believe the prv lets pressure down from 2psi to a few inches of...
