    PSI problem
The pipe leading from my pump motor to water filter busted over the weekend. I fixed that but my tank is still not pumping water.

I noticed that the factory precharge PSI listed on the tank is 38 and that my gauge shows the PSI is around 5. I believe this is the reason for no water being pumped. Am I correct in this assumption and will increasing the PSI to the correct amount fix my problem? How do I do this?

    Thanks

I don't think you are correct. You are probably reading pressure on the gauge attached to a pipe near the pressure tank. That means you have only five pounds of system pressure, which is next to nothing. The 38# of pressure would be read at the tire valve near the top of the tank. At this point, don't worry about that. You need to get pressure going.

Bear in mind that the tank does not pump water. It simply stores water under pressure. The pump does the pumping. You need to check three things:

    1. Is the breaker on?
    2. If your switch has a little reset lever on the side, have you reset it?
    3. Are you still iced up anywhere in the feed line or well pipe?
