I was recently arrested for criminal damage to property
I was arrested and spent 2 days in jail in Dekalb county for a criminal damage to property. This whole situation has been a nightmare. I reacted to a gun being waved and pointed at me during a question asked and I threw a knife at the car of the guy who waved the gun at me. He placed a warrant for my arrest and I spent time in jail. There was a scratch to the door handle and a dent the size of a penny at the passenger door. I posted bail for $2000 and I am awaiting a court date. Do I file a police report explaing what happened since the guy did not mention waving a gun at me before the court date? I have agreed to pay for the damage and have given the guy $200 so far. Should I stop payments until the court date? What are the possibilities of getting this felony off my record. DO I hire a lawyer? Just so confused. Please help me.

Do NOTHING other than hiring a lawyer. Do NOT talk to the cops. Do NOT talk to the victim or send him money.
