    My outdoor light is popping the circuit breaker - could the sensor be bad
    Our outdoor light was out and we replaced the light thinking the light burned out - when we replaced the new light we noticed that the circuit breaker was popping - could the eye sensor be bad and cause this problem?

    Could be the sensor but it could also be several other issues. Is this a GFCI circuit?

    Very little information, do you live iin wet area , has anyone done work on the circuit recently? Take the fixture off the wall and check for water,PLEASE make sure the switch is in the off position!!

    This is an outdoor post light - regular circuit breaker not CGCI. Thanks

    This is a outdoor post lamp - no one has done any work on the circuit. We live in the pocono mountains area of Pa, we have had a lot of rain in the fall.

    As Ballanger mentioned could be the sensor, or one of many other reasons for a breaker to trip.

    You can disconnect and eliminate the sensor from the circuit, wire the light direct, and try the breaker. If it holds, the sensor is the problem, if not, then need to keep looking for the short.

    Many times the lamp socket collects water, corrosion, etc, and can be shorted.
