Hi, For Christmas my grandma got me a new hair straightner. Yesterday I used it and it works great! Later that day, I visited my grandma and my uncle and I got a ton of compliments. It takes me a while to straighten my whole head, so I probably wouldn't do it every day. But, I want to do it as often as possible, with out damaging my hair. How often do you think I could staighten my hair without damaging it? Thanks.

I have a Chi ceramic hair straightener which reaches 410 degrees and I straighten my hair most everyday and have been doing so for about 6-7 years. I have pretty long, thick hair and its all still looking good after all these years. People always told me that it would "fry" my hair if I used it too much, but they were wrong and my hair does't look any different than it did 7 years ago. Just remember that hair is only a mixture of dead skin cells and other protiens. The only bad thing about too much straightening is you get split ends faster, but that is a minor problem to me. Enjoy your silky straight hair!!

Being that it reaches 410 degrees, how long does it touch your hair?
Do you use one of those thermal hair sprays that are suppose to protect your hair from the heat?

Well first I put the top layers of my hair in a hair tie or clip so it's out of the way. Then I take a small section of hair (1"-2") and clamp down with the straightener as close to the root as I can get (without burning myself!). Squeezing fairly tight, I run the straightener down the section of hair, which usually takes me about 10 seconds. Sometimes I will have to go over the same section of hair twice. I do this to the rest of the bottom layer hair. Then I will remove the clip or hair tie and do the same thing to the top layer.

I do use a thermal serum (though half the time I forget lol) called Smooth Down by Redkin. Places like Wal-Mart and Target sell this or similar prodcuts that work just as well. I don't think its absolutely necessary to use a thermal protection spay/serum but I find that my hair is softer and smoother if I use them.

Well, because I have thick, shoulder length hair, it takes me about an 1 hour to do my whole head. No, I don't use the heat protectant.

Hi.

I'm a serial hair straightener. I straighten my hair at least once a week.

I use Schwarzkof for my hair.
It keeps is hydrated and smooth and silky :)

I use the Schwarzkopf BC Bonacure Smooth Control Shampoo & Conditioner:


I let my hair air dry and then I spray on Osis Schwarzkopf Flatliner before straightening my hair:


After straightening it I smooth away my hair with Schwarzkopf Osis Magic Anti-Frizz Gloss Serum. I also sometimes after showering rub this into my hair after towel drying my hair.



These products don't leave me with:
-itchy scalp
-residue
-feel clumpy or thick with product

It makes me hair feel:
-soft
-silky
-smooth
-touchable and helps it fall naturally not in weird chunks.

I highly recommend these products. They last long [I bought my products in August and I'm not even running out] and you'll spend about maybe $50 and it's worth the money, because like I said they last long!

I do cut my hair every 6/8 weeks and do a deep conditioning every 4/5 weeks :)
