Why do you feel it is necessary to bathe her?

Is this the same dog that was 8 weeks old a week ago?

You need to either purchase a book about puppies or speak to a Vet - based on your other questions/concerns.

You shouldn't have to bathe your dog more than once a month, usually less unless they are getting dirty.

If you are bathing your puppy make SURE the water is warm (but not burning hot obviously) and that you use a mild, pet soap. It's extremely important to make sure your puppy is dried VERY well, as you don't want it to get chills.

Talk to your Vet. Flea control on a puppy that young is VERY, VERY DANGEROUS. What did the Vet who saw the dog for sleeping too much and shaking have to say about the fleas?

As a side issue - how old are you?

If she has fleas, bathe the puppy with warm water and Dawn dishwasher - it seems to work quite well for taking care of fleas, as the puppy is too young for something like a flea bath in my opinion. You will have to pick fleas off, though.
After you bathe, use a flea comb on her to pick off any fleas left alive.

Has she been to the vet yet. She should be getting vaccines soon if she hasn't yet, and at 8 weeks they can use topical flea control on her, as it's safe for most puppies over 8 weeks - ask your vet, they will be able to help you with a decision on this.

You are the expert; I am simply repeating what my Vet told me when I was in animal rescue. She said that age and weight are in issue in flea control. I will, therefore, say that you are correct and I am wrong on this issue.

    My apologies.

I am the first to jump on people who post from "someone told me" instead of "my experience, my education."

It is sort of a touchy subject - I do know with some treatments with puppies that small they will give half the dose.
But then the rep for Revolution told us that with that particular brand the safety margin is so large in lab tests a yorkie puppy (so same size) at 8 weeks had no ill effects to be given 10x the regular dose. And so far (knock on wood) we haven't seen any issues.

I'd only really recommend it with Revolution, because that's the one brand we work with that I know is safe for small puppies.

We have always given our dogs revolution, and I am sure at 8 weeks we were giving it to them. But we also used a different type of de wormer, can't remember what it's called, I sat here for 5 minutes just trying to think of the name. But it is specifically designed for puppies.
