Recovery Rebate Credit with 2010 Wife SSN
I came to US on L1 visa with my wife on Aug 2007. I was not aware that my wife can get the SSN on L2. Because of my wife ITIN we couldn't get the Recovery Rebate Credit. I just came to know about it and will be getting the wife SSN in 2010 by March. Is there a way we can still amend the 2008 Return and claim the RRC amout of $1200

Yes, you CAN amend your 2008 return (you have until 15 April 2012 to do it) to claim the RRC, provided you can show that the late issuance of her SSN was due to ignorance of the law and not some prohibition of her getting the SSN to begin with.

Thanks Sir for your quick response. Does that matter the SSN is without Work Authorization as far RRC is conerned.
