    Washing machine in basement
Our washing machine is located in our basement. We have already confirmed with a plumber that the set up is not ideal and have plans to move it upstairs. Our 12 year old washing machine pump no longer works (dumped large amounts of water in the floor this weekend). Need new washer. Not able to move laundry upstairs at this time. No sump pump. Washer drains about 6 feet above floor. Could the inability of old washer to effectively drain have led to its demise? (Knowing a new washer would face the same issues) We are a few months out from being able to move the laundry upstairs. Any recommendations.
