How do I remove the carpet from my 2003 toyota camry
My heater core ruptured and filled the inside of my camry floor with antifreeze. Everyone says I have to replace the carpet. I lifted the drivers side carpet but need to remove the center council. Can anyone give me any advise on removing the councl?

I wouldn't be inclined to replace the carpet--try thoroughly washing it first. Then, face the car into the sun, open the windows, and allow it to thoroughly dry out.

The 1st thing I tried was hot soapy water. I used a shop vac but the carpet has this real thick foam padding that will not release the water. No sun for a few days, had 2 fans blowing on the carpet in my cold garage. Real slippery from the antifreeze

It's so easy a caveman can do it.
There's enough info in this pdf file to get you through the console r&r.
The rest is just seats, (unbolt, tilt back, disconnect wiring) sill plates. B pillar trim, and seat belt anchors. Don't forget to disconnect battery, and key out (airbags)!
I get all the spare change and whatnot you find for my troubles. :)

TxGreaseMonkey. Thanks. You motivated me to ignore the naysayer auto detailers and upholstery shops who said the carpet had to be relaced. I did not have to remove the whole council. Just the plastic to get to the carpet out. I used Dawn Dish liquid in my bathtub to clean the antifreeze out of my carpet. It is drying inside my house, no more antifreeze. Yah! You motivated me to do it mself and I saved a lot of money. It will take a few days for the foam part of the capet to dry but it will be fine. Thanks. I am a Christian also. God has to remind me that I am smarter than I give myself cedit for when it comes to cars.

kitch428, Thanks for the schematic. I was able to verify that I removed the carpet correctly. Thankfully I did not need to remove the whole dash. Thanks again for your response.

Amen. God gives you problems to solve so that you, in turn, can be a blessing to others. That's how He operates. Problems are opportunities for growth. That's how I got involved with AMHP. I had a major electrical problem (ECM) with my car and came here looking for help. I ended up solving the problem (developed the K-Test) and stayed to help others.
