Sometimes it blinks sometimes it doesn't it also did something strange liked surged the rpms up and down it's a 91 accord 2dr 138,000k this is my frist honda

You might want to have your oil pump looked at since it does fluctuate like that and come on. Idiot lights do not come on for the fun of it. They indicate that there is something wrong with that system of the car. Have you checked your oil level or had the oil changed since owning it? Also are you putting the correct oil in the engine for the car's age? Very important.

Since this is a 4 cylinder car you need to get the new high mileage oils now out on the market made especially for high mileage cars. I use the Valvoline high mileage oil in my 1994 Jeep 6 cylinder and it does very well considering I have 181K on the car. It keeps the engine seals in good condition and my car leaks zero oil out the bottom.

You need to get the proper filter for your car. Ask at the autoparts store where you'll get your PVC valve at. Also ask about what high mileage oil is suitable for your car as well as the Valvoline may not be the right oil for your 4 cylinder.

I don't change my oil myself as I like to go to a place where the car is driven over a pit and I can go down into the pit and look at the underside of my vehicle and see what's going on under there. I figured out it's cheaper in the long run as I had a boyfriend who insisted on doing my oil change and he happily wrecked the oil sending device line to the dashboard oil pressure gauge. $80 repair. Ouch. So I let other folks change it for me so if they wreck my sending device I can ding them for the repair. Also I don't have to dispose of the used oil myself. Much cheaper in the end.

I do change my spark plugs, plug wires, pvc valve, air filter myself though. Cheaper.

You might be developing a sludging problem, due to the oil and filter not being changed enough. This is causing the oil light to sporadically come on. A high-mileage oil would likely help clean the engine up. Pennzoil Platinum full-synthetic engine oil claims it cleans 47% of engine sludge with one use. I have first-hand experience with this product in old F-150 trucks in Texas that were really neglected. It safely cleaned those engines right away. One had a bad "tick" (186,000 miles) that would not go away before. In fact, my friend bought the truck rediculously cheap from a dealer because of the tick. The tick immediately went away and it's going strong several years later. I'd recommend using SAE 5W-30 Pennzoil Platinum, changing the oil and filter every 6,000 miles or 6 months, whichever comes first.
