Young man has 1 hour to notify world of nuclear warhead
I am looking for the name of a movie- possibly TV movie- from late 80's or early 90's about a young man who overhears that a nuclear warhead is headed toward the US which will destroy it, and he sets out to try and notify as many people as possible - however, no one believes him. He and his girlfriend end up stealing a helicopter and end up crashing into water where he helps his girlfriend to drown, saving her from a worse ending caused by the nuclear warhead. I thought Matthew Modine was the lead, but cannot find it in his film credits.
