You are very close for a base model. I was quoting a fully loaded Malibu Classic.
I do know for a fact a 1980 Chevy Camaro Berlinetta with a wimpy 267 V8 (chick car) was just over 10.

Here in my home city there is a jerk chevy car dealer claiming that the price and payments at his dealership for a new 2010 Cam is the same as one 30 years ago. I knew it was bull, but wanted some numbers from a reliable source to call his bluff. Thanks

My payment in 1976 on a new Chevy was 166.45. (I'll never forget that number) I struggled with those payments back then. It was a 36 mo loan, and 12% interest. Zero interest today!
At this time, right now, it is the end of the fiscal year AND the end of month (JAN 4th). It is the best time of the year to buy a new car. That's a fact!
GM right now, are really throwing some great deals. He may be telling the truth!
How about a brand new Pontiac at 46% off MSRP. Of course they're out of business, but still plenty on lots. And after all. It's still the same GM car underneath so any can service it. Check them out! Saturn too!

Here you go: HowStuffWorks "1979 Chevrolet Malibu"
This says $4812-$5600, new. And the monthly payment can't be calculated unless we know the amount of months the loan is for.

Thanks all. Yup Kitch428 I'd love to buy one of the new GTO's and park it in my barn for 20 years. HooRah. If GM can make it I think they will bring the Ponz back.

If I had your money lol, tomorrow morning I'd drive a new Pontiac G8 off the lot.
I'm a Toyota guy, but that's one fine vehicle pound for pound, dollar for dollar. You could almost steal one away from the dealer. 6.0L, 6 speed manual, look out Beemer's, yup! I'd be happy!
GTO's are cool too. Fine built Aussie car!

Hey Kitch428, Haven't been back online. Had family illness. But I like Toyota, even with there present trouble. They'll get it straightened out. I wish I had my first car, a 1959 used white Impala convert with a power blue top, 3 speed on the column. My dad was so mad when I saved my own money sent to Whitney's and had a hurst floor shift put in. Yaaa it was a little over kill with the Hurst but it was cool and I was a kid. What the hey!
Are you still shoveling snow down there?

No snow. Hoo-ra! There's a video on you tube of a '59 Impala colliding with a '09 Malibu showing how safety has progressed in the last 50 years.
It's not a pretty picture. Check it out. But I'm betting you were the coolest kid with yours. It sounds sweet.
Toyota will come out of this fine. There's sooo much loyalty to a great car company out there. They are really taking care of the customer on this one.
