    Elderly abuse and thieft how do I help
    My in-laws are over 80 yrs old and a couple months age, they let their grandson (Bob) move in with them. He has been charged with thieft over $5000.00. When he moved in he brought a lot of items that were expensive and still in their boxes. Which are being stored in my in-laws basement. I can't say these items are stolen but he never has any money and get money from my in-laws. He also doesn't have a drivers liciense and somehow conviences them to lend him their van. What trouble can my in-laws get into. And is there anything I can do.

    If he is storing stolen property your in-laws can be in trouble for being in possession of stolen property. If he gets into an accident in the van they could be responsible for damages.

    I would have a talk with them and have them tell their grandson that he needs to get his stuff out of their basement. And that he needs to get a driver's license before they will loan him the car again.

    Hello a:

    They can be sued if he gets into an accident. You can't do anything about his boxes.

    You can help them by helping them do the paper work to evict him.

    You may want to talk to the dect about the possibility of him storing items where he lives.

    And of course talk them into not letting him use their van, since they know he has no DL, they can be held liable
