What do I do to a female sago with a seed pod on top
After a freeze last winter my female sago grew a large ball in the center. It hasn't opened up. It just sits there and no new leaves are growing from it. What do I do? Should I remove the seed pod? The male grew a large cone from the center but it has since fallen off. Then it grew really fast.

Hi! bandedavis, welcome to AMHD :)

Don't remove it, that will only invite disease. Allow the Sago to purge it naturally.
    An excellent site:
    The Sago Palm, Cycas revoluta

Do you notice any yellowing of the Cycad? You could try 1 teaspoon of epson salts in a gallon of water.

My sago palm is now old enough to have produced a male "cone". Should I leave it alone or cut it off? It is starting to fall over (almost 12" long). My female sago produced new fronds this year, but not the male -- will it after the cone falls or is cut off? Thanks, erickjm
