I bought a new faucet and the water isn't draining--the sink has no overflow--do I just buy a new drain?

Til he gets here,Is the Faucet connected to the Drain, Is drain lever moving up and down under the sink?

Thanks--just found this site--i am clueless, so go slow with me--assume I'm like a 5 yr old... the pop up drain works but there is no overflow hole in the sink vessle--so it is a venting problem

Hi Lauren,
WE have a drainage problem with vessel sinks and lavatories with no overflow. They do make a drain for those sinks with no overflows, (see image). This is called a "Grid Drain. Replace your pop-up drain and watch your lavatory drain much better. Good luck, Tom

Thanks--so before I purchase this--tell me--this will allow the water to flow out faster? Also, are there specific specifications I need to know before I buy this?

ALSO---will I EVER be able to stop up the sink if I want to soak something to clean it?

A grid drain can not be closed and thus an overflow of water can not occur.

Speedball--this isn't my issue--i don't care about overflowing water-i care about the water draining fast/properly... I have no vent/overflow hole in my sink and so the water clogs up (can see air bubble under lip of drain)----do I need a drain without an overflow port? Whatever that is? ;)

Sorry! Grid drains are designed to vent a lavatory without a overflow. I showed you a grid drain for a vessel sink . Ask for a pop-up drain for a vessel sink, (see image) Don't accept a regular pop-up drain insist on one for a vessel sink. Good luck, Tom
