My husband and I were looking for a home to buy. Found out that h is sister's home was about to be foreclosed on, she suggested that we take over the payments on her home, and finish paying for it. She said she would add our names to the deed, then we could get it refinanced in our names. We did so,after paying over $14,000 to pay the payments in arrears to prevent the foreclosure, and proceeded to pay the mortgage payments which are quite high, but we did not mind for a while, until we could get it refinanced in our names. Our names have not been added, and we are quite frustrated at the amount of money we have been out, thinking we were going to become the owners of this house. What can we do?

I would do nothing without first consulting with an Attorney. You have to make certain that what you have proposed is, in fact, legal.
