    Honeywell humidifier he260a
Instlled Honeywell humidifier HE260A. Water runs constantly across the filter pad. Does not shut down at any point. Is there a problem with the solinoid or some other problem? Thanks

Water will run across the pad until the humidistat is satisfied if you installed it correctly.

Will check installation. Still suspect that solenoid is bad. Never really worked right, too late to take back to the store. Priced a replacement solenoid and it was 70-100. Thinking of just getting new humidifier.

If the humidstat is working properly and turning off the power to the selonoid when moisture is not needed no water will be used durning to off time. A way to find out if the selonoid is bad or stuck open is to disconnect the wires at the humidifier and listen to see if the water runs. If water still runs the selonoid is the problem.

BTW the pad type humidifier should work just fine since I have one myself. One thing you need to be sure of is if the water orifice is installed. If not it will really waste water.

I had the same problem with an HE360. The water starts flowing as soon as the unit isplugged in!! After messing with this unit for two hours trying to figure out why the unit doesn't operate properly, I noticed that the unit was in fact miswired. The head unit red wires were connected directly to the blue solenoid wires, which activates the solenoid without any signal from the humidistat. I ended up cutting the blue solenoid wires and connected to the red crimp connect wires.
