Hi... just had the transformer go on a Rheem RGDA-07EA-CR furnace... took the old transformer out and purchased an Emerson S84A-410 but need to get a hold of the wiring schematics to put it in... any suggestions?

This is a plate transformer and a NO brainer. Hook white and black to 120 volt supply and the other two terminals are for the 24 volt supply.

Maybe I didn't ask the question correctly, can I try again? All of the wires melted that went into the transformer and then came out of the transformer to the furnace... maybe what I really need to ask is for schematics for the furnace? The furnace is a Rheem RGDA-07EA-AR

There are two red wires, a black wire and a brown wire coming from the fan control and then there is a brown and a black coming up from a white block on what looks like the plunem base. Because the wires all melted I'm trying to find out how to wire...

Also the items you gave me the links to I had already found and they didn't help me, one said it was directions but really is just a one page pdf that is the same top and bottom and only general precautionary information - is there supposed to be something more?

Can you post a pic of the melted wires? And the unit itself?

I have never replaced just the transformer on a fan center. I have no listing for your model number furnace either but I do have a listing for a replacement fan center that shows the wiring. Most service people will sound out the wiring with a meter but I understand that might not be possible for you to do. You also need to find the reason for the wires melting before you just replace parts, The rest of the fan center could also be defdective so I suggest you replace the entire item.

Check the back of your furnace blower access door for a wiring diagram or it might be located on one of the other doors. They all come with one from the factory.

In the mean time see if this helps you out.

Hi... I'm sorry it took so long for me to get back with pictures but here are a couple of them... it's not the actual transformer that I'm worried about the wiring for but rather the furnace itself. I could only put a couple of pictures with this post so I'm going to post a couple of more comments to get you a couple more pictures. If there's something in particular that you need to see please let me know!

Ok, here are a couple of more pictures, I hope they help and you can see what you need to see. The old melted wire has been cut out and started splicing in new and could use a little direction...

I see some major problems and situations here.

The high temperature or flame rollout switch is not even connected to start with and that helped contribute to the melted wires. It probably went bad or failed because the flames were rolling out of the burner area and someone removed it from the circuit causing a worse situation to happen.

My recommendation is to have a On Site inspection by a professional HVAC contractor because I fear that the root cause of the problem is not just melted wires but a defective heat exchanger or restricted flue/vent/chimney. Sorry but I do not feel comfortable about this situation and the lives of yourself and other family members are at risk. Call a pro to look over your system and make any corrections necessary for its safe operation.

Thank you so much for taking the time to answer my questions and look at my pictures... I'm sorry for the delay in relaying my appreciation. We took your advice and a furnace repairman will be at the house today to look at the furnace and give us his diagnosis!

Safety is always my number one concern. I hope the furnace repair person can figure it all out for you.
